South Dublin County Council would like to invite proposals for a highly visible, sculptural artwork at Glenview Roundabout, Tallaght on the N81. The commission is part of a large scale infrastructure project N81 Landscape Improvement Scheme and will be the first of three commissions in specified locations along the route.

Q1. Can I submit a proposal as an individual artist and a second proposal in collaboration with another artist?
A. Yes, one proposal only can be made by an individual artist. A second proposal may be submitted if it is in collaboration with another artist.
Q2. Is there a maximum height and width for the intended sculpture/work for the roundabout? Are the measurements the same for the other two roundabouts to be commissioned?
A. The height and width of the artwork should match the scale of the roundabout. However considerations such as sight lines for vehicles require to be factored in so, the width of the artwork should not extend past the paved area in the centre of the roundabout plus half the width of the grassed area, to ensure vehicular sight lines are maintained. Height in the centre of the roundabout is not critical in relation to sightlines, so can be at the discretion of the artist. The concept design of the winning art work will be subject to input from the Roads Dept. of the Council in relation to sight lines / road safety prior to final design. The diameter of paved area is 7.5m.
Q3. Do you require only 3 examples of previous relevant works? Where in the application form or in the supporting information section can I upload images of previous works? I only see a text option not an option to upload images?
A. Yes, only 3 examples of previous relevant works are needed. You can now upload images in Number 11. The problem has been corrected.
